Follow this taking the frequent short cuts up to the former Sonnblick Inn. (Watch out for tobogganers) Behind the farm the path runs across quite steep fields uphill till we reach the further Dremmelshüttenalm and later the lower Lodronalm. Via the Lodronalm it’s about 30 minutes to the summit.
Descent:
either along the ascent trail, or from the summit head north and follow the ridge (direction Wilder Kaiser) for about 300m and then the beautiful, quite steep fields down to the Lodronalm. Keep following the path back to the starting point.
Ski tour to the Brechhorn mountain, 2,031m
The first ski tour in the Spertental valley - the Brechhorn mountain is the easiest to reach and also the best to visit. A lovely ski tour which can be undertaken straight after the first heavy snowfalls.
Hiking time 3 hrs
Elevation gain: 1072m
Difficulty: 2
Length: 4.80 km
Starting point: Oberlandhütte (Aschau)
Ascent
Immediately after the car park at the beginning of the toll road we cross the Aschauer Ache bridge and climb relatively steeply across beautiful slopes to the Durachalm at 1,420m. We sweep to the right in a wide arc up to the Durachkogel at 1,773m and on across the flat ridge to the Breitlabalm at 1,898m. After a short descent (about 30 m elevation loss) across the steep east ridge to the summit.
Descent:
At first as for the ascent.
In the saddle between Breitlabalm and Duracherkogel, descend to the right of the sign "Aufforstungsfläche” (Reforestation area). Follow the marker poles across a lovely terrain. Later keep to the left to the Durachalm and follow the path back to the starting point.
Ski tour to the Steinberg mountain / Wiesboden, 1,947m
Easy and very popular tour, ideal for beginners. This is ideal terrain for both skiers and snowboarders, offering stunning runs especially after a snowfall. Choose the right trail and no real danger of avalanches.
Hiking time: 3 hrs
Elevation gain: 1,154m
Difficulty: 2
Length: 6.54 km
Starting point: Steinberghaus Inn, 889m (Windau)
Ascent
From the car park head south into the valley, follow the uncleared road for about 15 minutes before turning off onto a forest road branching off to the right with the sign “Steinbergstein", past the slightly hidden valley station of the goods cable lift to the upper Steinbergalm. In the clearing we climb uphill past farm buildings, taking short cuts on the forest trail until, directly below the goods cable lift, we reach the upper Steinbergalm at 1,418m. After the Alpine farm we continue uphill (heading west) through a sparse strip of forest and then onto rather flatter terrain up to the Steinberg mountain marked by a cairn (without summit cross). The path continuing to the Wiesboden mountain leads directly along the ridge, then it’s about 30 minutes to the Wiesboden summit cross, clearly visible to the left, at 1,947m. (The flat summit of the Lodron mountain is clearly visible to the right, where lots of tourers meet on nice days.)
Descent:
Along the ascent path, first on the ridge and subsequently across the magnificent pastures of the upper and lower Steinbergalm. The valley bottom makes for an excellent return to the starting point.
